캐나다 한인 심포니 오케스트라는 오는 2월 15일(목) 오후 7시 30분 리치먼드 힐 예술센터에서 ‘From the New World’로 주제로 KCSO공연을 갖는다.

1987년 초대 음악감독 김승순선생님, 그리고 이후에 리처드 리의 지휘하에 캐나다한인교향악단는 지난 37년간 한인음악인들의 클래식 음악의 우수성을 알리는데 전념하며 로이톰슨, 메시, 조지 웨스턴 홀 등의 여러 주요 토론토 무대에서 공연하였습니다. 오는 2월 15일에는 첫 북부 리치몬드 힐에서의 공연을 기쁘게 준비하고 있습니다.
이 공연의 하이라이트 안토닌 드보르작의 명작 첼로 협주곡의 객원 독주자는 캐나다 뿐만이 아닌 세계 클래식 음악계의 떠오르는 별, 다니엘 고하민님입니다. 그는 이미 베를린 필하모니, 카네기 홀 등 북미와 유럽의 주요 무대글을 연주를 하셨는데, 함께 리치몬드 힐의 무대에서의 합주를 성사할 수 있게 되어 영광입니다.
그리고 공연의 제목 ‘신세계에서’이기도 한 드보르작 교향곡 제 9번이 연주됩니다. 1893년 초연 이후 줄곳 즐겨 연주되고 깊은 감동을 선사해온 이 불후의 명곡은 정통 유럽 음악과 신대륙 스타일의 어우러짐으로 유명하기도 합니다.
2019년에 임명된 첫 여성 음악 감독인 마에스트라 이샤론의 지휘하에 연주하는 첼리스트 다니엘 고하민님과 캐나다한인교향악단의 열정적인 올-드보르작 명연주를 리치몬드 힐에서 만나시길 바랍니다!
The Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1987 by Maestro Kim Sung-Soon, then led by Maestro Richard Lee, has been dedicated to promoting excellence in classical music in the Greater Toronto Area over the past 37 years, and have performed in venues such as the Roy Thomson, Massey, and George Weston Recital Hall. It is about time that KCSO ventures north to Richmond Hill to perform for its vibrant and culturally diverse community.
The KCSO at Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on February 15 is excited to showcase the beloved masterpiece Dvorak Cello Concerto with all the virtuosity and expressiveness brought on with our soloist Daniel Hamin Go, a rising star in the international classical music scene. With an education that took place across five countries, Go has won numerous awards and competitions, and has performed with major concert halls in North America and Europe including Berliner Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall.
As our title ‘From the New World’ suggests, the orchestra will also perform Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9. This iconic work is known for its memorable melodies and fusion of American and European musical styles. The symphony is a testament to Dvorak’s admiration for American culture, and has been a staple of the orchestral repertoire since its premiere in 1893.
KCSO‘s first female music director as of 2019, Maestra Sharon Lee, will be leading this concert. It will be a feast for classical music lovers, and a celebration of artistic excellence. The Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to share passion and talent with the community of Richmond Hill, and hopes to inspire and engage audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
